Dr. James R. Kunkel, M.D., F.A.A.D.
Dr. Kunkel founded Coast Dermatology in 2006 and has practiced ‘old school’ dermatology on the central coast of California for 25 years. He is a California native having grown up in the Oakland/San Francisco bay area. He went to college and graduated in the Honors Program from the University of Utah in 1987. He was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska where he graduated cum laude in 1991. He completed an internship in the Department of Internal Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in 1992 and dermatology residency across town at USC/LA County Medical Center in 1995. He achieved board certification by the American Board of Dermatology in 1995 and recertified again in 2005 and 2015. He is currently certified in dermatology by the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons and has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology for 25 years. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two great kids and tinkering with cars.
Dr. Catherine A. Biren, M.D., M.P.H, F.A.A.D.
Dr. Biren became board certified by the American Academy of Dermatology in 1987, after serving as Chief Resident in Dermatology at UC Irvine/Long Beach VA Medical Center. In 1989, Dr. Biren opened her own private dermatology practice. Since then, she has proudly served the residents of Modesto and Oakdale, California. She enjoys coming to the Central Coast every month and provides convenient Friday and Saturday appointments. She is an expert in skin cancer surgery, medical dermatology and cosmetic dermatology, and has been voted “Best Dermatologist in Stanislaus County.” Her office offers patients an extensive series of treatments and products designed to make their skin look younger and more radiant. Dr. Biren serves on the Board of the North American Clinical Dermatologic Society, a non-profit academic organization that seeks to acquire and share the latest therapeutic techniques in dermatology with our international dermatology colleagues.
Josephine Olson, PA-C
Josephine Olson is a nationally certified and California licensed Physician Assistant. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at University of California, Irvine and her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida before coming back to California. She has treated dermatological conditions since 2011.
Margarethe "Greta" Pappademos, PA
Margarethe Pappademos obtained her Bachelor from UC Riverside in 2008. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in Anthropology and Neuroscience. Margarethe joined Phi Beta Kappa in 2006. She obtained her Masters of Physician Assistant Sciences from Saint Francis University in 2011. In her free time Margarethe enjoys gardening.
